St James has been providing quality early education programmes for children in the Redlands area for over 40 years. Our programmes are delivered by professional educators in a nurturing Christian environment. St James offers both Long Day Care and Kindergarten programmes, depending on your family's needs. What sets us apart from other centres in the area, is that we are a Non-profit Community Centre. Any funds generated are invested back into the centre to enhance resources and facilities for the benefit of our children and the community. This means you can be assured that the primary concern of our centre is your child's care and progress.
St James Lutheran Community Kindergarten was established in 1973. The Kindergarten offers a sessional pre-prep programme for children aged 3.5 – 4.5 years of age (the year immediately prior to prep). The programme operates during school terms, over a 5 day fortnight, between the hours of 8.30am and 2.30pm. Each of our two classrooms is led by a fully qualified Early Childhood teacher with one assistant. Across our 4 classes we are able to offer 88 places per year.
Our Long Day Care Centre caters for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years of age. What parents like most about our centre is that it is a small centre, with a total of 36 places available. Each of our three rooms is staffed by 2 permanent staff members. This allows children in our centre to become familiar with all staff members and gives them continuity of care which is not available in larger centres.
The centre is open to all families of all beliefs and promotes a regard for Christian values. Our local church pastor plays a special role in the spiritual growth of children by visiting both the kindergarten and child care centre each fortnight to share songs and stories with the children in an age appropriate and informal atmosphere.
An elected parent management committee works together with parents, staff and congregation members to manage all aspects of the centre. Opportunities for family involvement are many and varied to cater for all levels of parent participation and promote a genuine community atmosphere. Families at St James feel a real sense of belonging and community.
If you would like further information about our kindergarten or child care programmes feel free to contact the centre for further information.
